The Old Trafford club have terminated the contract of manager Ruben Amorim after a little over a year in charge. The decision comes in the wake of a growing clash over January funds and even with the team's unbeaten run.

The relationship between the manager and the club's hierarchy, particularly director of football the recruitment chief, had been fracturing for some time. The final trigger is believed to have been statements made by the coach following Sunday's 1-1 draw with their rivals. On paper, Amorim's time at Old Trafford was difficult. He departs with a record of victories of less than 39 per cent and a league points average of a meager 1.24 in the Premier League. The team suffered more defeats than it won in the calendar year 2025.

Interestingly, his final games showed a slight improvement. United lost just one of his final eight matches and currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table, just a narrow margin off the coveted fourth place.
