Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
