Head Reached Out to Duckett Following Video Backlash

Cricket players Head and Duckett in action

Head and Duckett have been on opposing sides in the recent Ashes contests.

Australian batter Travis Head disclosed that he reached out to England counterpart Ben Duckett following a online footage circulated that seemed to depict the batter in a intoxicated state before the MCG Test.

Accounts suggested that members of the squad were consuming significant amounts of alcohol during a time off in the beach town of Noosa between the second and the third Tests.

One unverified video sparked increased scrutiny on the squad and on Duckett personally.

"I get on with Ducky well reached out to see if he was doing okay," commented Head.

"Everyone is still people. Your actions in your private life is your concern.

"I know we live a very public life and some people are more high profile than others.

"Ultimately, it is a somewhat unfair but I don't think there is any major concern."

Context of the Situation

England's time in Noosa followed they had gone 2-0 down in the Ashes series after losses in the first two Tests.

Multiple media outlets reported that some players were drinking for a significant portion of their time on the Queensland coast, as well as on two earlier days in Brisbane.

Though they produced an improved performance in the following Test, they lost in Adelaide to concede the series to Australia.

The Australian's Take

Speaking after the visiting team's win in the fourth Test, Head remarked: "I felt envious.

"Everyone has made a bigger deal than what it should have been.

"Our teams have done the very same on previous tours. I don't see an issue with it."
