In a surprising partnership that breaks traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Revealed

According to the authorized announcement, "A strange encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the obscurity." The plot features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine cult.

The questline centers on "peculiar tests and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Additional Content

Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana in addition to numerous items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Newest Free Story Addition

This update also adds the game's third free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
